combined to two PDF-files. The file sizes should not exceed 3 megabyte alltogether.
The first PDF should contain the Fact sheet (download a template here). Please name the file after the group or project.
The second PDF should contain (application documents in German or English):
- Description of the project proposals as possible with meaningful visualization in form of sketches, photos, maps (may include ideas for communication, workshops etc.)
- Detailed budget for the projects (download a template here); if technical support is needed, it is possible to ask the technician of Fleetstreet Theatre. In this case please include this in the budget (380 € per day)
- Self-presentation of members of the group of artists/of the artist
- Documentation of completed projects (e.g. links to vimeo or the like)
FAQs on the financial plan:
1. Each residency is funded with €3,000 per month, no matter how large the artist group is.
2. We usually award one-month residencies, 2 or 3 months are rather rare (1-2 residencies per year go over 2 months) and for artists or groups who really have bigger plans and that should be justified for a longer period of time.
3. Artists are more than welcome to apply for other funds and co-financing at the same time. However, experience has tought us that most of our residency groups did not receive any other funding from instituions in Hamburg (cultural authorities, foundations), as three sponsors are already involved in the residency.
Therefore, it is recommended to apply for the residency program with projects that can be realized with the financial resources of a maximum of 3000€/month, regardless of the size of the group.
For example, the total budget of the project should not exceed 12,000 € for a two-month residency, as the artists would definitely have to apply for third-party funding in the amount of € 6,000 in this example.
4. The production cost of max. €12,000 refers more to the type of production, because the Fleetstreet Theatre is a small theatre, with a small auditorium, which can accommodate an audience of about 60-80 guests maximum and the stage being about 4 x 6 meters. We cannot invite huge productions, also because we simply don't have the space. That is the reason behind having put up the upper limit to €12,000 to make it clear that we are not a commercial theatre with revolving stages or a large backstage area.
